Criw Cymraeg

We are the Criw Cymraeg of Tonnau Primary School.

We have lots of members of the Criw Cymraeg who are all in the juniors. Our job is to promote the Welsh language to encourage other children to speak Welsh. We do this by playing lots of Welsh games, presenting Welsh awards weekly and being role models to the infants.

We meet weekly in our lunchtime. In our meetings, we decide on the ‘Patrwm yr Wythnos’ (Pattern of Week) for the following week and then teach this phrase to the school. Also we decide who will get the Welsh award.

From our hard work we achieved the Bronze Award and now we’re aiming for the Silver Award!

Dydd Shwmae

Dydd Shwmae day is an event to celebrate the Welsh language.

In Tonnau Primary School we celebrated Dydd Shwmae day by completing lots of different activities  about the Welsh language. For example, practising and presenting play scripts, making an effort to speak Welsh together and watching a video all about Wales. We even decorated Welsh cupcakes and made posters to celebrate being Welsh!!

We enjoyed Dydd  Shwmae day because it’s fun and it is important to learn Welsh and celebrate Wales!

Thank you for reading our blog all about Dydd Shwmae day
